Since 1967, The Cape Breton Island Building & Construction Trades Council represents over 4000 trades professionals affiliated with 14 construction unions on Cape Breton Island and works with over 100 unionized contractors.

We are involved in every major construction project in Cape Breton, from new builds to improvements in schools, hospitals, recreation facilities, and transportation and energy infrastructure.

We provide highly skilled trades professionals to the construction industry with a focus on safety and creating a more diverse workforce.

Our affiliated unions provide pension, health and welfare benefits for members and their families.

We provide support and mentorship to our apprentices and journeypersons to foster skill development.

Registered Apprentices receive hands-on experience, providing unique life-changing opportunities to learn a skilled trade.
